I sculpted this relief for Cambridge Stud. It is based on an smaller 3D sculpture I made of their mare J’Adane. It was a great, exciting job. It hit that perfect spot where it would be challenging and expand my skill base but I was also confident I could make it.
I started by blowing up a photo of the smaller sculpture I had already made to the exact size the larger sculpt would be. This gave me a useful tool to measure off. I build the sculpture in a wax clay. After it was cast in bronze I added all the details by hand – reins, bridle etc.
